Volibear, Relentless Storm

How to play : Volibear Dragons

The dragon ramp deck — hatch eggs, bank energy, then pour out giants that pay themselves back through the legend.

Our take: Spice that works

The most fun of our three lists — slower than the meta, but once the dragons land no board holds.

Deck tech: how to pilot it

Three beats: hatch eggs and bank energy → drop giant dragons → let the legend refund runes every time a big one lands, so the next lands sooner.

The plan

Platewyrm Egg and Dragonsoul Sage are the energy farm: an Empowered egg pays 2 every turn, and every Mighty unit (5+ might) makes the legend refund a rune on top. The whole game is turning slow turns into turns that cast 9-drops comfortably.

  • Platewyrm Egg
  • Dragonsoul Sage
  • Kadregrin the Infernal

Mulligan

Keep every egg and every Sage: the engine only matters if it lands early. Keep a cheap spell like Flurry of Blades to hold the board, and exactly one big card; Kadregrin will draw the rest.

  • Platewyrm Egg
  • Dragonsoul Sage
  • Flurry of Blades

The dragon engine

Kadregrin draws 1 per Mighty unit you control: the second copy often draws 2-3 on the spot. Dazzling Aurora is a free unit at every end step, and Rage Amplifier gives the whole pack +1/+2. Eggs first, dragons after; the value flows by itself.

  • Dazzling Aurora
  • Rage Amplifier

Closing

Volibear is the closer: Deflect 2 makes targeting him painful, and his attack splits 5 damage however you like. And remember Sky Splitter costs less by your highest might: with a 9-might dragon out, it is nearly free.

  • Volibear, Furious
  • Sky Splitter

The weakness

Fast aggro is the hard game: eggs die easily and every engine piece lost delays the dragons. Falling Star and Punch First exist to buy time; spend them early without regret.

  • Punch First
